Tubus Cargo Rack Facts . . .

• The Tubus Cargo is available in 2 sizes - a 700c size for road bikes, and a 26 inch size for Mountain Bikes.  Please remember to specify which size you need when you order, or shipping may be delayed.

• There have been several improvements made to the Tubus Cargo rear rack over previous models.  Tubus has added a second eyelet to the lower rack dropouts so you can now mount a fender directly to the rack without having to share the rack mounting eyelet.  Also, they have repositioned the vertical struts to make the rack even more rigid.  In the process, the rack-top cross pieces are now very evenly spaced with narrower gaps, so it would be harder for a soft pack tied on top to push through the top of the rack and touch tire or fenders.  The rack still looks much the same as before, and you might not notice the changes if I didn't point them out.  They have simply made a great product even better.   The photos above show these changes.

• The Tubus Cargo's rated capacity is 90 lbs. For comparison, I have seen the capacity on the Blackburn Expedition Rear Rack listed at 40 lbs, and the Jandd rear rack at 70 lbs. If you are headed out for a long distance, heavily loaded tour, the extra capacity could be the difference between a smooth tour or a breakdown. The Cargo has the best mounting system I have seen.  Instead of the standard twisted steel brackets - that only adjust forward and back - the cargo has a special mounting system that adjusts forward and back, AND side to side, so you can perfectly level and align your rack. It fits a wide variety of frame sizes and geometries, and is easy to set up.

• If you are going on a long self-supported bicycle tour, then this is the rack you want!

• Weighs 610-630 grams (21-22 ounces).
• The Cargo is great for heavily loaded panniers.  Without a doubt, this is the most stable rack you will find.
• An important point to make about the Cargo -- I have had numerous customers compare the weight of the Cargo rack to the other racks in the Tubus line, especially the Fly and Luna, and conclude that they do not want the Cargo "because it is heavy."  What they don't realize is that they are comparing the Cargo to much lower capacity, ultra light weight racks that are not designed to carry a full touring load.  Within the category of fully capable cross-country touring racks, the Cargo is not only very strong, but also very light weight.  It is made from hollow chromoly steel tubes which compare very favorably in weight to solid aluminum rods in other racks.  When I hand a Cargo rack to customers who know it is made from steel, but have never held a Cargo rack, they are often visibly surprised by the light weight in their hands.
• The Tubus Cargo top rails are 10mm in diameter.
• Attachment struts are available in a variety of lengths and bends for unusual fits.  However, the standard struts will fit the vast majority of bikes.
