HOW TO PURCHASE
Hi there, I am Wayne at TheTouringStore.com. I am still low-tech here (if you can call selling on the Internet low-tech!). I have no shopping cart, so to make a purchase you will need to contact me through my TOLL FREE 800 number below, or by email.
I ACCEPT , Discover, PayPal, Money Orders, Cashier's Checks, or Cleared Personal Checks.
TO PLACE AN ORDER BY PHONE . . . Call me TOLL FREE at 1-800-747-0588. You may call any week-day between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Mountain Time in Colorado, and I am often here from 10-2 on Saturdays -- but not always. Unless otherwise posted, I take Sundays off, but you are welcome to leave a phone message on Sunday. If you get voicemail, please leave a message - with your name, phone number, time zone or state, and best times to call. I will get back to you as soon as possible. Please speak clearly and REPEAT your phone number. If I can't understand it, I can't return your call. I know - that's obvious - but it has been a problem recently, especially with cell phones and Skype calls. If you miss me during business hours, you are welcome to email me ANYTIME. I will reply ASAP, usually same or next business day. If you will email me your phone number, time zone and best times to call, I will call you back at the first opportunity.
If you wish to pay by credit card, We will take your MasterCard, Visa or Discover information by phone.
PayPal payments must be made payable to wayne@TheTouringStore.com. Please contact me BEFORE sending PayPal, by Phone or email, so I can confirm that your item is in stock before you pay. I will be happy to provide pointers on using PayPal if you unfamiliar with the service, or need a refresher course. And we are happy to send you a PayPal invoice to make it easier to pay by PayPal. If you request a PayPal invoice, please let us know the email address associated with their PayPal account, which is often different from the one used to contact me.
If you wish to pay by Money Order, Cashier's Check, or Personal Check, I will provide you with my payment address. These forms of payment must be made payable to TheTouringStore.com.
PLEASE NOTE . . . When paying by MasterCard, Visa or Discover, I will need your card's billing address, the three digit verification number on the back of your card, and a contact phone number in case there is a problem with your order. If you will provide your email address, we will send shipping confirmation and tracking details when your item ships.

You may email me your order at wayne@TheTouringStore.com, and I will get back to you with your total including shipping and insurance, and my payment address. We can finish the transaction by email if you intend to pay by PayPal, Money Order, Cashier's Check, or Personal Check. Please do not email me your credit card information. It may not be secure! PayPal payments must be made payable to wayne@TheTouringStore.com. We are happy to send you a PayPal invoice to make it easier to pay by PayPal. If you request a PayPal invoice, please let us know the email address that is associated with your PayPal account, which is often different from the one used to contact me. Mailed payments must be made payable to TheTouringStore.com. Be sure and include all the necessary order information, so I can quickly process your order. If you are ordering panniers, I need the following information: your selections including model names, and numbers if provided, quantity, color choice, hook size (hook size is necessary only if you are ordering Lone Peak panniers), handlebar diameter (handlebar diameter is necessary only for Lone Peak handlebar packs). Please let me know your payment choice, telephone number, and email address. Be sure and let me know if you are in a hurry to get your items, so I can get you a price quote for expedited shipping. If you wish to pay by MasterCard or Visa, please call me on my 800 number and I will take your card information, or email me your phone number and best time to call.
IN STOCK MERCHANDISE . . . I try to keep everything I carry in stock for immediate shipping. Sometimes there is a delay getting products from the manufacturer. If I do not have an item in stock, I will try and get it for you as quickly as possible, and I will keep you informed of my progress. I will let you know if an item is out of stock when you place your order. I don't like surprise backorders when I buy items online, so I try to avoid that as much as possible.
ITEMS WITH FREE SHIPPING . . . Items with Free Shipping will be sent by UPS Ground or USPS Priority Mail to the Lower 48 States. Customers in Alaska and Hawaii - I will give you up to 10.00 credit toward USPS Priority Mail shipping, so you won't be left out of this deal. You will only pay the extra shipping costs!
SHIPPING PRICES . . . If you are from Alaska or Hawaii, send me your address and I will figure actual shipping, and get you the best price possible. If necessary I can ship USPS to PO Boxes and APO addresses -- if you will pay the additional shipping cost. I am happy to use expedited shipping methods if you are in a hurry - if you will pay the difference. Packages ship from Fort Collins, Colorado 80524.
EXPEDITED SHIPPING . . . I can use expedited shipping services if you are in a hurry to receive your package, if you will pay the extra shipping costs.
INTERNATIONAL PURCHASES . . . I am happy to ship to many countries. Email me your name and address, and I will let you know if I can help you. Please include your EXACT product selections. For instance, don't just say "I need an Ortlieb Handlebar Bag." Say "I need an Ultimate 5 Plus Medium Handlebar Bag with Map Case in RED." Postage cost varies greatly with package size, weight and value, so I need an accurate list of items before I can get you an accurate price quote. I will get back to you with a detailed price quote including the shipping/insurance total. I accept payment by PayPal in US Dollars, or International Money Orders in US Dollars. CUSTOMS FEES OR IMPORT DUTIES MUST BE PAID BY RECIPIENT. International Shipping will be by US Postal Service. I cannot write GIFT on your package, as I sign legal customs documents when I ship. I do not know how to calculate import duties or your local taxes. Please try and narrow your choices. If you ask me prices on 5 different combinations of items, I have to box 5 different packages to get package dimensions and weight, and I can easily spend over an hour doing a long price quote. If I have 5 international customers in a day doing multiple quotes, there just aren't enough hours in the day for me to do that, and keep up with my US customers. Please don't call and leave a message asking me to call an international phone number. I am only open from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM, Mountain Time in Colorado. If I called back international customers, I would need to be available 24 hours a day, so again, email works best. It is OK to leave messages from Canada, as our phone systems and available hours are nearly the same -- my toll free number does work from Canada. I am sorry, but I only speak English! I know, there are a lot of conditions for international purchases, but I really do welcome your order! For customers from CANADA, AUSTRALIA, and NEW ZEALAND . . . I can accept MasterCard or Visa by phone, as well as PayPal or International Money Order. Please confirm your order by email before calling to make payment. It takes a bit of time to figure shipping costs, so if you call first I won't be able to complete your order while we are on the phone, and I'll need to get back to you after I figure your shipping costs. I will include my contact information and payment details in my reply to your emailed price quote. You are of course welcome to call if you simply have questions.
YOUR INFORMATION WILL REMAIN PRIVATE . . . Just so you'll know, I will NEVER share email addresses or any personal information with third parties. Information you give me will remain private! I do not advertise by email, and you won't be on any spam list. In warranty situations I will sometimes forward emails to the product manufacturer or distributor.
Why don't I have a Shopping Cart? . . . Well, aside from a lack of technical expertise building web pages, I have found that almost every purchase has benefited from a phone conversation. I have found that many customers would purchase bike racks in the middle of the night that would not fit their bikes, and I would be taking back a huge number of returns. Not all panniers fit all racks either, so I would likewise be sending out panniers that would have to be returned. There are many such fitting problems with the kinds of merchandise I sell. While taking your order by phone, we can usually solve the fitting problems ahead of time, and help you find products that will work for you immediately. And, being a small company, making myself available almost every weekday from 9:00 AM until 6:00PM, Mountain Time in Colorado, I worry that if people were making purchases during my off hours, my quality of service and response time might begin to slip. And last, but not least, after 14 straight years working in bike shops, I got used to being able to talk to my customers. I want to keep this business personal. ABOUT TIME ZONES . . . MANY people call an hour early, and sound surprised when I don't answer, so I have I decided to include this info! Eastern Time is two hours ahead of Mountain Time. Central Time is one hour ahead of Mountain Time. Pacific Time is one hour behind Mountain Time. Examples . . . 11:00 AM in NY = 9 AM, Mountain Time in Colorado. 10:00 AM in Chicago, IL = 9:00 AM in Colorado. In California, 8:00 AM = 9:00 AM in Colorado.
