Welcome to TheTouringStore.com!
Who am I? . . .
I am Wayne Boroughs, owner, crew, head salesperson, customer
service representative, bookkeeper,
shipper, advertiser, bill payer, and general jack-of-all-trades at
TheTouringStore.com I am located in Fort Collins, Colorado. And hey!
. . . Cormac has come on board to take care of my shipping department and
inventory! We haven't figured out a title for Cormac yet -- maybe "Sir
Ship-a-lot!"
My Experience . . . I have spent over 25 years in the bicycle industry, both as a shop
manager and owner, and now in Internet sales. I've been an avid cyclist since the 1970's.
My longest bike tour was 2300 miles. I didn't have time for more, or I
would have kept on riding!
I would be glad to share my experience with you if you have questions about the
bicycling products I sell. I look forward to the opportunity to
provide you with a level of service on the Internet that rivals or exceeds brick
and mortar stores. Please contact me if you have any questions. I'll
be happy to help!
Do I have a Showroom for Local Sales? . . . No, and sorry, but at the moment this is an Internet business, and I have no "open hours." I have no showroom or display models, and with such a small staff, if customers just drop in, they just don't realize that I have a virtual line-out-the-door, because they can't see other customers waiting. I may have ten packages promised for three o'clock for instance, and if you stop in, I will miss keeping my shipping promises if I drop what I am doing and spend time with you. And I have to answer the phone when customers call. That said, I really do enjoy meeting my customers, and I can sometimes invite locals to stop in "by appointment only." Email me if you like, and we can see if there is a time that will work. If so, I can send you my local phone, and we can arrange a time. Please understand if I am in the middle of a busy time of year, and I say "sorry, this won't work today."
Why don't I have a Shopping Cart? . . . Well, aside from a lack of technical expertise building web pages, I have found that almost every purchase has benefited from a phone conversation. Also, I have found that many customers would purchase bike racks in the middle of the night that would not fit their bikes, and I would be taking back a huge number of returns. While taking your order by phone, we can usually solve the fitting problems ahead of time, and help you find products that will work for you immediately. And, being a small company, making myself available almost every day from 9:00 AM until 6:00PM, Mountain Time in Colorado, I worry that if people were making purchases during my off hours, my quality of service and response time might begin to slip. And last, but not least, after 14 straight years working in bike shops, I kind of got used to being able to talk to my customers. I want to keep this business personal. So for now, when you are ready to purchase, just give me a call on my toll free number - 1-800-747-0588, or email me to arrange a purchase by PayPal. I look forward to helping you! Wayne
